Amajuba District Municipality is a district municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, covering 7 102 square kilometres. It coordinates 3 local municipalities: Dannhauser, Emadlangeni and Newcastle. It takes in the towns and settlements of Charlestown, Dannhauser, Hattingspruit, Newcastle and Utrecht.

Census 2022 counted 687 408 residents, making it the 10th most populous of the 54 municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal and 41st of 257 nationally. That works out to 96.8 people per square kilometre. Population is spread thinly across the area. There are 150 239 households, averaging 4.6 people each. 28.9% of residents are under 15 and 5.9% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 11.3% hold a higher education qualification and 5.3% have had no schooling.

The council has 11 seats across 4 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 4 seats (36.4%). It is governed by a coalition: n/a. Mr Thembelihle Mthembu serves as executive mayor (IFP), and Mrs Adelaide Dlamini is municipal manager.
