Nkandla Local Municipality is a local municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, covering 1 828 square kilometres. It falls within the King Cetshwayo District Municipality. Its main centre is Nkandla.

Census 2022 counted 108 896 residents, making it the 44th most populous of the 54 municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal and 177th of 257 nationally. That works out to 59.6 people per square kilometre. Population is spread thinly across the area. There are 16 254 households, averaging 6.7 people each. 35.5% of residents are under 15 and 7.0% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 4.0% hold a higher education qualification and 22.8% have had no schooling.

The council has 27 seats across 3 parties, with IFP holding the largest share at 16 seats (59.3%). IFP governs the municipality. Ms Nonhlanhla Nzuza serves as executive mayor (IFP), and Ms NP Dlamini is municipal manager.
