Thabazimbi Local Municipality
Thabazimbi Local Municipality is a local municipality in Limpopo, covering 11 190 square kilometres. It falls within the Waterberg District Municipality. It takes in the towns and settlements of Amandelbult Mine Town and Thabazimbi.
Census 2022 counted 65 047 residents, making it the 26th most populous of the 27 municipalities in Limpopo and 207th of 257 nationally. That works out to 5.8 people per square kilometre. The population is very sparsely distributed across a large area. There are 26 832 households, averaging 2.4 people each. 20.7% of residents are under 15 and 5.6% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 9.6% hold a higher education qualification and 4.8% have had no schooling.
The council has 23 seats across 7 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 10 seats (43.5%). It is governed by a coalition: Hung Council and Coalition led. Mr Tumisang Pilane serves as executive mayor (ANC), and Mr GC Letsoalo is municipal manager.
