Govan Mbeki Local Municipality is a local municipality in Mpumalanga, covering 2 955 square kilometres. It falls within the Gert Sibande District Municipality. It takes in the towns and settlements of Bethal, Charl Cilliers, Embalenhle, Evander, Kinross, Leandra, Secunda and Trichardt.

Census 2022 counted 310 117 residents, making it the 10th most populous of the 20 municipalities in Mpumalanga and 80th of 257 nationally. That works out to 104.9 people per square kilometre. Settlement is concentrated rather than scattered. There are 103 864 households, averaging 3.0 people each. 25.4% of residents are under 15 and 4.7% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 8.1% hold a higher education qualification and 7.1% have had no schooling.

The council has 63 seats across 7 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 26 seats (41.3%). Hung Council governs the municipality. Mr NG Zuma serves as executive mayor (ANC), and Mr EN Maseko is municipal manager.
