Metsimaholo Local Municipality is a local municipality in Free State, covering 1 717 square kilometres. It falls within the Fezile Dabi District Municipality. It takes in the towns and settlements of Deneysville, Kragbron, Oranjeville and Sasolburg.

Census 2022 counted 158 391 residents, making it the 7th most populous of the 23 municipalities in Free State and 128th of 257 nationally. That works out to 92.2 people per square kilometre. Population is spread thinly across the area. There are 49 060 households, averaging 3.2 people each. 25.3% of residents are under 15 and 6.3% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 10.3% hold a higher education qualification and 3.7% have had no schooling.

The council has 46 seats across 7 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 16 seats (34.8%). It is governed by a coalition: ANC/EFF Coalition. Mr Jack Malindi serves as executive mayor (AIC), and Mr Basi Motloung is acting municipal manager.

At the last census, 66.8% of households had piped water inside the dwelling, 89.3% used electricity for lighting and 79.6% had refuse removed weekly.
