Capricorn District Municipality is a district municipality in Limpopo, covering 21 706 square kilometres. It coordinates 4 local municipalities: Blouberg, Lepelle-Nkumpi, Molemole and Polokwane. It takes in the towns and settlements of Alldays, Dendron, Morebeng (Soekmekaar), Polokwane, Senwabarwana (Bochum) and Zebediela.

Census 2022 counted 1 447 103 residents, making it the 2nd most populous of the 27 municipalities in Limpopo and 11th of 257 nationally. That works out to 66.7 people per square kilometre. Population is spread thinly across the area. There are 427 174 households, averaging 3.4 people each. 30.2% of residents are under 15 and 7.5% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 13.7% hold a higher education qualification and 10.3% have had no schooling.

The council has 21 seats across 3 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 15 seats (71.4%). It is governed by a coalition: n/a. Mr Mamedupi Teffo serves as executive mayor (ANC), and Mr NR Selepe is municipal manager.
