City of Matlosana Local Municipality is a local municipality in North West, covering 3 602 square kilometres. It falls within the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality. It takes in the towns and settlements of Hartbeesfontein, Klerksdorp, Orkney and Stilfontein.

Census 2022 counted 431 231 residents, making it the 7th most populous of the 22 municipalities in North West and 64th of 257 nationally. That works out to 119.7 people per square kilometre. Settlement is concentrated rather than scattered. There are 128 359 households, averaging 3.4 people each. 26.5% of residents are under 15 and 6.7% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 9.4% hold a higher education qualification and 5.7% have had no schooling.

The council has 77 seats across 7 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 40 seats (51.9%). ANC governs the municipality. Mr FC Mahlophe serves as executive mayor (ANC), and Ms Lesego Seametso is municipal manager.
