Swartland Local Municipality is a local municipality in Western Cape, covering 3 708 square kilometres. It falls within the West Coast District Municipality. It takes in 12 recognised towns and settlements, among them Abbotsdale, Chatsworth, Darling, Grotto Bay, Kalbaskraal, Koringberg, Malmesbury, Moorreesburg.

Census 2022 counted 148 331 residents, making it the 11th most populous of the 30 municipalities in Western Cape and 134th of 257 nationally. That works out to 40.0 people per square kilometre. Population is spread thinly across the area. There are 44 856 households, averaging 3.3 people each. 23.4% of residents are under 15 and 7.2% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 11.0% hold a higher education qualification and 3.6% have had no schooling.

The council has 22 seats across 5 parties, with DA holding the largest share at 13 seats (59.1%). DA governs the municipality. Mr Harold Cleophas serves as executive mayor (DA), and Mr Joggie Scholtz is municipal manager.
