Alfred Duma Local Municipality is a local municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, covering 3 764 square kilometres. It falls within the uThukela District Municipality. It takes in the towns and settlements of Colenso, Van Reenen and uMnambithi (Ladysmith).
Census 2022 counted 415 036 residents, making it the 14th most populous of the 54 municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal and 65th of 257 nationally. That works out to 110.3 people per square kilometre. Settlement is concentrated rather than scattered. There are 94 685 households, averaging 4.4 people each. 29.8% of residents are under 15 and 6.0% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 9.0% hold a higher education qualification and 8.5% have had no schooling.
The council has 73 seats across 8 parties, with IFP holding the largest share at 33 seats (45.2%). Hung Council governs the municipality. Mr Zama Sibisi (Portfolio Chairperson: SPGFC) serves as executive mayor (IFP), and Ms Sibusisiwe Sixolile Ngiba is municipal manager.
