Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality is a local municipality in Mpumalanga, covering 1 416 square kilometres. It falls within the Nkangala District Municipality. Its main centre is Mdala Nature Reserve.

Census 2022 counted 324 855 residents, making it the 9th most populous of the 20 municipalities in Mpumalanga and 78th of 257 nationally. That works out to 229.4 people per square kilometre. Settlement is concentrated rather than scattered. There are 74 581 households, averaging 4.4 people each. 29.6% of residents are under 15 and 9.0% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 6.5% hold a higher education qualification and 12.8% have had no schooling.

The council has 62 seats across 11 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 39 seats (62.9%). ANC governs the municipality. Mrs Nomsa Sanny Mtsweni serves as executive mayor (ANC), and Ms Monicca Mathara Mathebela is municipal manager.
