Matzikama Local Municipality is a local municipality in Western Cape, covering 12 981 square kilometres. It falls within the West Coast District Municipality. It takes in 15 recognised towns and settlements, among them Bitterfontein, Doring Bay, Ebenhaezer, Klawer, Kliprand, Koekenaa, Lutzville, Molsvlei.

Census 2022 counted 69 043 residents, making it the 23rd most populous of the 30 municipalities in Western Cape and 202nd of 257 nationally. That works out to 5.3 people per square kilometre. The population is very sparsely distributed across a large area. There are 19 101 households, averaging 3.6 people each. 25.3% of residents are under 15 and 6.5% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 6.6% hold a higher education qualification and 2.6% have had no schooling.

The council has 15 seats across 6 parties, with DA holding the largest share at 7 seats (46.7%). It is governed by a coalition: DA / VF PLUS Coalition. Mr Johan van der Hoven serves as executive mayor (DA), and Mr Lionel Phillips is municipal manager.
