Naledi Local Municipality
Naledi Local Municipality is a local municipality in North West, covering 7 032 square kilometres. It falls within the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality. It takes in the towns and settlements of Stella and Vryburg.
Census 2022 counted 63 755 residents, making it the 20th most populous of the 22 municipalities in North West and 211th of 257 nationally. That works out to 9.1 people per square kilometre. The population is very sparsely distributed across a large area. There are 16 099 households, averaging 4.0 people each. 30.2% of residents are under 15 and 5.2% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 8.5% hold a higher education qualification and 9.9% have had no schooling.
The council has 18 seats across 5 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 10 seats (55.6%). ANC governs the municipality. Mr Clifton John Groep serves as executive mayor (ANC), and Mr Modisenyane T Segapo is municipal manager.
