Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality is a district municipality in North West, covering 28 125 square kilometres. It coordinates 5 local municipalities: Ditsobotla, Mafikeng, Ramotshere Moiloa, Ratlou and Tswaing. It takes in 15 recognised towns and settlements, among them Biesiesvlei, Coligny, Delareyville, Disaneng, Groot Marico, Kraaipan, Lichtenburg, Madibogo.
Census 2022 counted 937 723 residents, making it the 2nd most populous of the 22 municipalities in North West and 23rd of 257 nationally. That works out to 33.3 people per square kilometre. Population is spread thinly across the area. There are 257 552 households, averaging 3.6 people each. 30.6% of residents are under 15 and 6.3% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 8.5% hold a higher education qualification and 10.6% have had no schooling.
