Sedibeng District Municipality is a district municipality in Gauteng, covering 4 173 square kilometres. It coordinates 3 local municipalities: Emfuleni, Lesedi and Midvaal. It takes in 13 recognised towns and settlements, among them De Deur/Walkerville, Devon, Eikenhof, Evaton, Heidelberg, Meyerton, Nigel, Sebokeng.

Census 2022 counted 1 190 688 residents, making it the 4th most populous of the 11 municipalities in Gauteng and 16th of 257 nationally. That works out to 285.3 people per square kilometre. Settlement is concentrated rather than scattered. There are 376 971 households, averaging 3.2 people each. 24.0% of residents are under 15 and 6.5% are over 65. Among residents aged 20 and over, 13.1% hold a higher education qualification and 3.9% have had no schooling.

The council has 19 seats across 4 parties, with ANC holding the largest share at 8 seats (42.1%). It is governed by a coalition: n/a. Ms Lerato Maloka serves as executive mayor (ANC), and Mr Motsumi Mathe is municipal manager.
